What is whey?

Whey is the nutrient-rich liquid that separates from the curd during the cheesemaking process. Traditionally valued for its high protein content in food, it’s also a hidden gem in skincare thanks to its unique blend of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.

The benefits of whey for your skin

  • Rich in nutrients – Whey contains proteins, lactic acid, and vitamins B2 and B12, all known to support healthy, radiant skin.

  • A gentle exfoliant – Whey contains naturally occurring lactic acid, which is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA). AHAs can help slough off dead skin cells from the surface, revealing fresher, smoother skin underneath. This process can improve skin texture and radiance.

  • Naturally hydrating – Can help retain moisture and prevent dryness without clogging pores.

  • Soothing and calming – Anti-inflammatory properties make it especially kind to sensitive or irritated skin.

Why we use whey in some of our products...

Whey brings an extra layer of nourishment and indulgence to our range. By blending it with natural oils and butters, we’ve created a range of soaps that showcase whey’s unique benefits while staying true to our ethos of simple, wholesome skincare.
